Quilting has often been a social and collaborative practice. The term describes the process of stitching through multiple layers in order to create one thicker combined layer. Quilting stitches can be a simple straight line or more complicated.

Appliqué, patchwork and quilting exist worldwide and have evolved over hundreds of years. These processes are about resourcefulness, utility, decoration, value, communication, legacy, culture and crafts(wo)manship. Theses traditions are rich with symbolism and cultural heritage. You and I are Just Like a Patchwork Quilt responds to the parallel between these processes and our own individual patchwork-like nature.
Why do we make decisions so differently? What components of our lives contribute most how we make decisions? Why do challenging situations drive a few people to make hateful decisions, while the same situation may elicit any number of kind, peaceful responses? How can we be better equipped to make decisions that are healthier for us and for the world around us?
